Who Am I

I was born in Lichfield (Victoria Hospital).  Educated at St Josephs, and Lichfield Central School.  I have lived and worked in Lichfield all my life, the last 40 years in North Lichfield.  I have two sons Michael and Robert, three grandchildren Aimee, Clive and Alfie, all of whom I am extremely proud of.

I have always been interested in Politics, but it was not until I accepted early retirement that I felt I could devote the time to become a Local Councillor.  And in 2003 I was lucky enough to be elected, and I hope I can live up to the expectations of the Chadsmead Residents.

Spending time playing with my Grandchildren.

Armchair fan of sport, and taking time out as a trained walk leader to lead on the regular Age Concern walk and talk programme in Lichfield,  this I thoroughly enjoy.

My Biography

I was elected to both Lichfield District and Lichfield City Councils in May 2003,  and re-elected to both councils in May 2007 and I am delighted and proud to be able to serve the residents of Chadsmead Ward. 

I am a member of the following District Council committees.

Planning Committee,  I also represent the District Council on the following Outside Bodies, Lichfield District Council for Voluntary Service,  Michael Lowes and Associated Municipal Charities and North Lichfield Initiative Transport and Environment Topic Group ( Chairman)

I am a member of the following City Council  committees.

Planning Committee.  And represent the City Council on Agenda 21 ( sustainable Staffordshire)

I am also a Trustee on the Swinfen Broun Charitable Trust.

A Board member of the North Lichfield Initiative.

A school Governor at Chadsmead Primary School.

A Member of Lichfield District Crime Preventive Panel

A Member of the Police Authority Community Consultative Committee.

A Member of the Lichfield City Forum.

I was born in the village of Brampton, Huntingdonshire in1947 and after leaving Leeds University, where I studied Fuel Science, I joined what is now ExxonMobil, the American Oil Company.

After a few years working as a petroleum chemist I moved to the retail side of the company where I was a manager for 33 years, electing for early retirement in 2005 after 38 years service.

Married for 41 years to Penny, we have two sons, both living locally, one a chartered accountant and one a medical representative. I have four grandchildren, two boys and two girls.

I have lived in the area for 35 years, the last 23 in North Lichfield.

Politics!

I am immediate Past President of my Rotary Club.

Grandchildren, but only in small doses!

Walking.

Foreign banknote collecting, which gives me an excuse for my love of travel.

My Biography

I was elected to both Lichfield City and Lichfield District Council in a by-election in December 2005 and re-elected to the City Council in 2007 and I am delighted and proud to serve the electors of Chadsmead Ward where I live.

I am a member of the following committees on the City Council:

Internal Control Working Party

Grants Committee

I am also a member of the following

North Lichfield Initiative Environment and Transport Topic Group

The Beacon Street Residents Association.

My mission, for which I was elected, is to not only help residents with individual problems, but also to improve the area and lives of everyone in North Lichfield, where I live.

I am immensely proud to have been elected to be the Sheriff of Lichfield for the year 2007/8 and to have been given the opportunity to be able to serve all the residents of the City of Lichfield by upholding the City traditions, such as the Annual Sheriff's Ride (when I rode 22 miles around the City boundary),  supporting the many local societies, charities and other organisations and representing the City.

I have now been elected Deputy Mayor and am engaged in supporting the Mayor during his year in office.
