MISS MARJORIE SIMMONDS, Former Sheriff of Lichfield and Former Lichfield District and City Councillor for Chadsmead Ward and long term worker for the people of Chadsmead Ward, sadly passed away on Sunday 16th August 2009.

Marjorie was well known and had helped many people over the years and will be very much missed.  A Trustee of Dr Milley's Hospital and friend to many, she had strong Conservative principles and values and believed in hard work and opportunity for all and never gave up, remaining independent to the end.

As President, Treasurer and Committee member of Chadsmead Branch of Lichfield Conservative Association she leaves a gap which will be hard to fill.

Your local Chadsmead Conservative Councillors, Mike Fryers and Terry Thomas met and talked to local people at this event.  Councillors from neighbouring Curborough and Stowe Wards were also in attendance

Lichfield District Council Countryside Team, the North Lichfield Initiative and local wildlife groups had invited everyone to a fun day and consultation event at Christian Fields to see this site, a former landfill that has developed naturally and is set to become Lichfield District's first

Local Nature Reserve.

The day was full of activities for all the family who could take part in the nature treasure trail and have their faces painted like their favourite animals, look for spring's first butterflies or go on a bird walk.  It provided an opportunity for people to tell how they used the area and share their ideas for its future management, perhaps being involved in a new volunteer group looking after the site.
